Procurement of Research Agency Services
Dashen Breweries S.C. invites qualified and experienced research agencies to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to provide professional market, consumer, brand, and trade research services. The objective of this EOI is to identify competent research partners capable of supporting evidence-based strategic and operational decision-making across the business.
1. Company Background
Dashen Breweries S.C. is one of Ethiopia’s leading beverage manufacturers, with a strong national footprint and a diverse brand portfolio. To strengthen its commercial, marketing, innovation, and route-to-market strategies, the Company seeks to engage professional research agencies with proven technical capacity, sector experience, and strong analytical capabilities.
2. Scope of Services
The selected research agency will be expected to undertake research assignments on an ad hoc or tracking basis. The scope of services may include, but is not limited to, the following:
- Market and Category Intelligence: Including market sizing, growth analysis, competitive benchmarking, pricing studies, and distribution assessments.
- Consumer Research: Covering usage and attitude studies, segmentation, need-state analysis, consumption occasions, and shopper journeys.
- Brand Health and Equity Tracking, including awareness, consideration, usage, brand imagery, loyalty, and advocacy metrics.
- Trade and route-to-market studies: including retail audits, outlet census and segmentation, price and promotion monitoring, visibility and execution audits, and distributor or wholesaler studies.
- Product, packaging, and innovation research: Including concept screening, product testing, pack testing, pricing research, and post-launch evaluations.
- Campaign and communication research: Including pre-testing, in-market tracking, and post-campaign effectiveness assessment.
Detailed scope, methodology, timelines, and deliverables for specific assignments will be defined in the subsequent Terms of Reference (TOR) issued to shortlisted firms.
3. Eligibility and Screening Criteria
Interested research agencies must meet the following minimum eligibility and screening requirements:
- Legal registration with a valid business license and tax compliance certificates in Ethiopia.
- A minimum of 5 (five) years of proven experience in the beer market, consumer, brand, or trade research.
- Submission of 3 (three) reference letters from previous client engagements demonstrating successful delivery of comparable research assignments.
- A minimum of three years of demonstrated experience in conducting trade census and route to market studies, supported by documented project examples.
- Demonstrated experience delivering research for FMCG companies, with beverage sector experience considered a strong advantage.
- Proven capability in both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, including sampling design, questionnaire development, field supervision, and advanced analysis.
- Capacity to manage fieldwork across multiple regions of Ethiopia, supported by trained field teams and supervisors.
- Established quality assurance and data validation systems covering fieldwork, data processing, and reporting.
- Availability of qualified and experienced research professionals, including research leads, analysts, and field managers.
- Ability to deliver projects within agreed timelines and manage multiple assignments concurrently.
- Disclosure of any current or recent engagements with direct competitors of Dashen Breweries S.C.
4. Submission Requirements
Interested firms are requested to submit an EOI containing the following information:
- Company profile and organizational background.
- Summary of relevant experience and selected key assignments.
- Organizational structure and brief profiles of key personnel.
- Copies of legal registration, business license, and tax compliance documents.
- Contact details of the firm, including an authorized focal person.
5. Shortlisting
Only firms shortlisted based on the evaluation of this EOI will be invited to participate in the subsequent Request for Proposal (RFP) process. Submission of an EOI does not guarantee shortlisting.
6. Submission Deadline and Address
EOI documents must be submitted on or before 01/07/2026 during working hours.

7. General Conditions

- Submission of an EOI does not guarantee an invitation to the next stage
- The Applicant is responsible for all expenses related to the preparation and submission of the EOI.
